The Irish football team made a run for a win in their final game of the season against Brooten-Belgrade-Elrosa, but came up short in a 24-40 loss. The first score of the game went to the Irish on a one-yard run by senior quarterback Ryan Finke. With a missed two-point conversion the Irish were up 6-0. Defensively the Irish held strong for the first half not allowing BBE to score.
Sophomore linebacker Cody Decker led the Irish with six solo tackles and five assisted tackles, followed by junior linebacker Rob Smith with five solo and five assisted tackles. The Irish had no fumbles and two interceptions. The interceptions were made by R. Finke and senior defensive back Andy Rodrigruez. Offensively they had 357 total yards–126 yards rushing and 231 yards passing led by senior running back Steve Gerring with 90 yards rushing and freshman running back Doug Mavencamp with 130 yards receiving. BBE scored two touchdowns in the third quarter and took a 13-6 lead but in the fourth quarter the Irish were unable to hold on. BBE scored three times before the Irish could put any more points on the boards. The Irish tried to come back with scores by Gerring, Mavencamp and sophomore running back Kevin Finke.
