Fire Report

Maple Lake’s Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Service responded to the following emergencies during the past week:

Jan. 5, 7:14 a.m.: Maple Lake’s volunteer firefighters were paged to Bernatello’s Pizza plant, 220 Congress Street West, Maple Lake, for a strong gas smell. Sixteen firefighters responded, investigated and ventilated the building.

Jan. 4, 6:14 p.m.: Automobile accident one mile north of Maple Lake on County Road 8 when a vehicle hit a pole. Three people, Alicia D. Foster, 17, driver; and passengers, Amy Poquette, 16, and Jon Shinnick, 16, all of Annandale, were involved. Shinnick, riding in the back seat, and Poquette, wearing a seat belt, declined medical assistance.   All three were transported to the Buffalo Hospital ER by ambulance. The fire department’s rescue squad responded to the accident with 22 firefighters.

Jan. 4, 12:36 p.m.: Patient with chest pains transported by Allina Health Systems ambulance to Buffalo Hospital ER.

Jan. 3, 5 p.m.: Automobile accident at County Road 6 and 30th St. NW. Samantha Banta, 19, Kimball, a restrained driver, was transported by ambulance to the Buffalo Hospital ER with a neck pain.   Josh Danzl, 22, Cold Spring, declined ambulance transportation or treatment.   The fire department’s rescue unit responded with 16 firefighters.

Jan. 1, 6:02 p.m.: Nineteen fire-fighters responded with five vehicles to a page at Roger’s AMOCO for a gasoline leak. Floor-dry was used to absorb the gasoline.
