26th St. Patrick’s Day Festival is March 15

It’s almost time for the 26th edition of Maple Lake’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival, set for March 15.

The day will begin with the annual Craft Sale set from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Maple Lake Elementary.

The 2nd Annual Irish Scamper will start at 9 a.m. with registration at Madigan’s Pub and Grill. The 5K race will begin at 11 a.m. in front of St. Timothy’s Church and the half-mile Fun Run will begin immediately after the start of the 5K. The course will take the runners east on Division, south on County Road 8, then back to the Church via First Street.

The Grande Day Parade lineup of units starts at 1:30 p.m. at the city park. Parade starting time is 2:30 p.m., heading west on Division, south on Birch, west on First Street and north on Maple. Prizes of $75, $50 and $25 will be awarded to the top three floats and the best Irish clan will receive the traveling Clan Trophy. This year’s Grand Marshal will be retiring school superintendent Ken Engel.     Coronation is set for 4:30 p.m. in the high school gymnasium with 14 candidates seeking the title of Miss Maple Lake. Admission will be $3 at the door.

Many businesses and restaurants will be featuring St. Patrick’s Day specials, which includes the Maple Lake Lion’s Irish Stew, set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Legion Club.
