Mark Pavlik to be ordained May 31

Rev. Mr. Mark Pavlik, having completed priestly formation at the Saint Paul Seminary School of Divinity of the University of St. Thomas, Saint Paul, will be ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis on May 31, 10 a.m., at the St. Paul Cathedral in St. Paul. He will be ordained by the Most Reverend Harry J. Flynn, Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

A native of Maple Lake, his parents are Gaylord and Margaret Pavlik of Maple Lake. His Mass of Thanksgiving will be at 10 a.m. on June 1 in the parish of St. Timothy in Maple Lake.

As a seminarian, Pavlik gained parish experience with involvement in preaching, presiding, teaching, marriage preparation and small-group leadership during his teaching parish assignment at St. Charles Church in Bayport, Minnesota. He had a clinical pastoral education internship at York Hospital, in York, Penn. He was a tour guide and an assistant to the director of liturgy at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington D.C. He also worked at the Gift of Peace Aids Hospice Homeless Shelter in Washington D.C. and South Mountain Geriatric Psychiatric Hospital in South Mountain, Penn.

Pavlik earned an MDiv. Degree in Theology from the Saint Paul Seminary in 2003. He received a double Bachelor of Arts degree in music and theatre from St. Cloud State University in 1993. Before beginning graduate theological studies, he was a manager with Minnesota Fabrics in Virginia from 1994 to 1998. He also studied three years at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland for the Diocese of Arlington.
