Environmental review of a proposed wastewater treatment plant to serve the Maple Lake and Annandale communities in Wright County opened for public review and comment on June 23 and will continue through July 23, 2003.
The cities of Annandale and Maple Lake are proposing to regionalize wastewater treatment services for their cities by constructing a jointly operated wastewater treatment facility designed to handle an average flow of 1.184 million gallons per day.
The proposed facility will accommodate the current population and anticipated growth in the cities, and is to be located south of Maple Lake in Albion Township.
An Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW), prepared by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), describes potential impacts on land, water and air quality. Citizens can review and offer comments on the EAW during the 30-day comment period.
The MPCA uses these comments to evaluate further the potential for significant environmental effects and to decide if an Environmental Impact Statement (a more comprehensive environmental review) is needed.
