Although inclement weather changed the venue for Maple Lake Commencement ceremonies from Irish Country Stadium to the MLHS gym on May 29, the Class of 2008 celebrated with a memorable evening.
Class President Andy Hertwig and Vice President Nick Hudek welcomed their classmates with a joint address that looked back on school careers with a long list of highlights. They noted the class motto, “Life is like a one-way street; you can look back but you can never go back.” Included among the good memories for the Class of 2008 was an undefeated record in Homecoming competitions, 11 conference championships during their high school careers, sub-section championships by this year’s volleyball and boys’ basketball teams and the most recent accomplishment, a trip to state by the Irish softball team.
Hertwig and Hudek ended their address with the following wish for their classmates: “Good luck on the road you travel and never forget the road we traveled as the Class of 2008.”
