REGULAR SCHOOL BOARD MEETING

MONDAY, JUNE 9, 2008

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

DISTRICT #881

MAPLE LAKE, MN

MINUTES

Board members present: Chris Dombrovski, Dennis Klug, Ed Trager, Greg Mooney, Shelley McAlpine and Arnie Michalicek.

Others present: Mark Redemske, Kris Harlan, Kristi Anderson and Andrea Quandt.

1. Meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m.

2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. “DISTRICT #881 IS PROUD OF”

A. Ken Kinsley for his years of service to Maple Lake High School

B. The Softball team for winning the section championship and taking second place in the state tournament.

4. Visitors present: Vaughn Dierks, Amiee Lalone, Job Gutierrez and Jonathan Duesman.

5. M/S Michalicek/Dombrovski – Motion to approve the Agenda for the regular school board meeting held on Monday, June 9, 2008. Motion carries 6-0.

6. M/S Klug/McAlpine – Motion to approve the Consent Agenda for the regular school board meeting held on Monday, June 9, 2008. Consent agenda is a single vote for all items unless board members request an item be moved to the regular agenda. (See Exhibit 1 – Consent Agenda Investments Manual Checks Board Checks) Motion carries 6-0.

7. M/S Trager/Klug – Motion to approve minutes of the May 12, 2008 regular school board meeting. Motion carries 6-0.

8. Unfinished Business

A. Construction update from Wold Architects and Engineers on our construction project.

B. M/S Michalicek/McAlpine – Motion to approve the following policies: 104, 201, 205, 206, 213, 401, 408, 414, 417, 418, 419, 504, 505, 512, 514, 520, 532, 608, 610 and 906. (See Exhibit 2) Motion carries 6-0.

C. M/S Klug/Dombrovski – Motion to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Maple Lake Federation of Teachers to include the availability of a VEBA health insurance policy to its membership. (See Exhibit 3.1 and Exhibit 3.2) Motion carries 6-0.

D. M/S Trager/Michalicek – Motion to approve board goals for the 2008-09 school year. (See Exhibit 4) Motion carries 6-0.

9. New Business

A. Legislative update on items that may affect Maple Lake Public Schools. (See Exhibit 5)

B. M/S Michalicek/Trager – Motion to approve a resolution to transfer $51 per pupil unit from Independent School District #881’s operating capital fund to its undesignated general fund balance for a total of $57,610.72. (See Exhibit 6)
