Minnesotan in training

Every day is an opportunity for a new experience. Saturday’s Gear-Head Get Together definitely fit that bill. I’ve been to car shows before, but nothing like the that.
It was amazing to see so much variety. (Even if I didn’t see any ‘55 Chevrolet Bel Airs like the one my dad has.) There was everything from motorcycles and snowmobiles to cars, trucks and semis in various stages of reproduction.
Some vehicles were sneakily cool, considering their real main feature was under the hood. Others featured amazing paint jobs.
One of which I had seen before at a car show in Spencer, Iowa. It was good to know I wasn’t the only Iowan who knows Maple Lake is the place to be.
Absolutely everybody involved in this mammoth effort deserves a huge thank you. For those who don’t know how much planning Saturday’s event took, consider this: The organizers are already planning next year’s event.
I for one am looking forward to it. Thanks to all the organizers, volunteers, city officials, exhibitors, swappers, patrons and everyone else who made it possible. If you missed it, don’t make the same mistake again.
I’ll see you next year.
