Edna Mabel Vieau, Howard Lake

Edna Mabel Vieau, age 91, of rural Howard Lake, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at Park View Care Center. She was born Feb. 13, 1922, in Albion Township, the daughter of August and Esther Bonnick Uecker. Edna was baptized on March 12, 1922, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. She was also instructed in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on April 14, 1935, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Her confirmation memory verse was 1 Timothy 6:12-14 On Nov. 25, 1941, Edna M. Uecker and Leo J. Vieau were joined in holy marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with three children. Edna and Leo purchased a farm in Middleville Township in the early ’50s. They engaged in dairy farming there for many years. Edna and Leo built and moved into a new home on their farm in 1977. She enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, caring for Leo and their cats. Edna was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township and belonged to its Ladies Aid. Survived by children: Dennis (Barbara) Vieau and Debbie (Dean) Brand, all of Howard Lake; four grandchildren: John Robinson, Heather Robinson, Philip Vieau and Jeff Brand; two great-grandchildren: Adrian Robinson and Isabelle Brand; other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by her husband: Leo J. Vieau on Jan. 10, 2011; a daughter: Darlene Robinson on Sept. 22, 2010, her parents and by a brother: Willard Uecker. Funeral services for Edna Vieau will be Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Waverly. A visitation will be Wednesday, August 7, from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Casket bearers will be Dennis Vieau, Debbie Brand, Jeff Brand, Philip Vieau, James Allbee and John Robinson. The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo is serving the family.
