Elizabeth ‘Betty’ B. Hoxmeier, Eden Valley

Elizabeth “Betty” B. Hoxmeier, 94, of Eden Valley passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011, at the Hilltop Care Center, Watkins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 11, at Assumption Catholic Church, Eden Valley. Rev. Virgil Braun will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, and after 9 a.m., Thursday, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Eden Valley. Parish prayers will be at 5 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Betty was born May 23, 1917, in rural Watkins to George and Catherine (Erpelding) Klein. She married Al Hoxmeier at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins on Oct. 18, 1938, and they lived at Orleans, NE, for about eight years before moving to a farm near Eden Valley. Together, they raised five sons and one daughter. Betty was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Assumption Christian Women, and Eden Valley Senior Citizens. Betty was a painter and painted about 30 paintings for family. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, dancing, music, attending church, and family visits. Betty completed both the Klein and the Hoxmeier family histories, which was a big accomplishment. 
 She is survived by her children, Gary (Gayle) Hoxmeier of Hinckley, Ron (Jan) Hoxmeier of Eden Valley, Jim (Stephanie) Hoxmeier of Plymouth, Virginia Dunn of California, Roger Hoxmeier of Eden Valley, and Randy (Maxine) Hoxmeier of Hill City; sisters, Marge Kinzer of Watkins and Kitty Winter of Maple Lake; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfons in 1979; sisters, Hilaria Schreiner and Mary Schreiner; and brothers, Nick, Peter, Alvin, Leo, and Art Klein.
