Evelyn B. Rasset, age 88, of Maple Lake, died Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Memory Care Cottages of the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at10 a.m., Monday, June 20, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Fr. Michael Izen celebrated the Mass. Pallbearers were Shane and Jarod Pick, Daniel Koopmeiners, Chris, Aaron, Josh, Phillip, Katie and John Rasset, Nicole Austin, David and Molly Adams. Sarah Goelz and Anne Pribyl provided the music for the service. Burial was at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, at Assembly Area 5. Friends called from 4-8 p.m., Sunday, and 8:30-9:30 a.m., Monday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish prayers were held at 7 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Wright County Humane Society.
Evelyn Barbara Rasset was born October 21, 1922, in Maple Lake to Thomas and Lena (Kris) Piram. She graduated from Maple Lake High School with the class of 1940 and went on to further her education in cosmetology. On December 29, 1949, Evelyn was united in marriage to Howard Francis Rasset at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake.  She owned and operated Evelyn’s Beauty Shop in Maple Lake for more than 40 years. Evelyn was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, the CCW, Wright County Extension Club, Whist Card Club, Maple Lake VFW Auxiliary and the Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and playing cards.
Evelyn was a true ambassador of Maple Lake and was a historian of her family and community. She was a tireless supporter of her children’s 4-H projects and other activities. Evelyn was blessed with a kind and generous spirit and an endearing wit.
She is survived by her children, Lester Rasset and his wife, Kitty of Maple Lake, Lois Pick of Oakdale, Luanne Koopmeiners and her husband, Tom of Brooklyn Park, Ruth Hoad and her husband, David of Duluth, and Rose Adams of St. Louis Park; 12 grandchildren, Shane, Chris, Jarod, Aaron, Nicole, Josh, Phil, Katie, David, John, Daniel and Molly; 9 great-grandchildren, Kaila, Keith, Ashton, Ryan, Emily, Nathan, Ella, Vincent and Clare. She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lena Piram; husband, Howard; son-in-law, Ron Pick; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Sylvester and Agnes Piram, and Albert and Rosemary Piram.
