Girard Hargarten, Annandale

Girard “Jerry” “Bud” Hargarten, age 85, of Annandale, formerly of Golden Valley, died Monday, December 20, 2010, at the Annandale Care Center.
 Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. with Memorial Services held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Maple Lake, with Rev. Peter Martinson officiating. The music for the service will be provided by Amy Hargarten, Stephanie Matson, and Andrea Cowell. Interment will be at Maple Lake Community Cemetery.
 Girard “Jerry” “Bud” Hargarten was born July 2, 1925, in Robbinsdale to Gerard D. and Garnett J. (Wallace) Hargarten. He attended Robbinsdale High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He was a 30-year employee of Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1984 as a yardmaster. He enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
 He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Annandale, also former wife, Donna Hargarten of Brooklyn Park; three children, James (Amy) Hargarten of Maple Grove, Sue (Tom) Klassen of Maple Lake, Jerry (Peggy) Hargarten of Brooklyn Center, and nine step-children, Russell Ruud of Polaris, MT, Mary Millicent of Rice, Jane Sorenson of New Brighton, Randy (Heidi) Ruud of Eden Prairie, Betty (Craig) Lindvall of Princeton, Ann Ruud of Minneapolis, Richard (Tammy) Ruud of Manderville, Carol Deshantel of Hopkins, Linda Ruud of Osseo; eight grandchildren, 20 step- grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and sisters, Lillian Michels, Juliene Thompson, Mary Dyer, and Betty Newell.
