With about two weeks of practice behind them, the Irish came out on St. John’s court on Tuesday, November 30, ready to fight and start the 2010-2011 basketball season off right.
Maple Lake began the game with senior Alyssa Redemske hitting a three-point shot, and the team never really looked back. The Irish controlled the game from the opening tip, using solid full-court, man-to-man defense and aggressive transition offense.
“The girls did a great job of playing pressure defense which led to some easy baskets on the offensive end,” said Head Coach Adam Ronnenberg.
Maple Lake carried a 25-point lead into the half by a score of 36-11. The second half proved to be more of the same. Thirteen of the fourteen players saw action for the Irish and nine of them got into the scoring column.
