Girls’ basketball drops two games

The Irish began the conference schedule at home on Tuesday, December 14, against the Jaguars of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.
BBE brought a record of 1-1 into the game and questions about who they were going to be as a team. Maple Lake was 2-1 and at the time trying to bounce back after a tough loss against Dassel-Cokato the previous Friday.
As the game got underway BBE began with full-court pressure trying to force the Irish into turning the ball over. The pressure was not successful, but the Irish struggled to put the ball in the basket.
“Offensively, we never found our stride and couldn’t seem to establish any momentum,” said Head Coach Adam Ronnenberg.
On the contrary the Jags shot a blistering 60 percent from the field leaving the Irish in disarray, and with a halftime score of 18-33, the Irish were really feeling the heat.
As the second half began it was more of the same as the Irish could not find the bottom of the basket. “Our struggles on the offensive end really started to affect us on the defensive end,” Ronnenberg said.
