Marvin Fischer, Maple Lake

Marvin Fischer, age 93, of Maple Lake, passed away April 27, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Dorothy Ann. Marvin will be missed by children, Sandra, Scott, Guy (Tracy) and Nancy (Bruce) Varner; 10 grandchildren: Leslie (Michael) Corcoran, Jennifer Emslander, Joshua Fischer, Anna (Tom) Vogel, Jessica Fischer, Bree (Joshua) Kuss, Angela (Dietmar) Pond, Sarah (Derek) Barto, Jon Fischer and James Fischer; eight great-grandchildren: Michael, Bodie, Joseph, Josiah, Mason, Miles, Kayla and Henry. Marvin was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Gaylord, to Albert and Bertha Fischer. He was a WWII veteran, serving in Europe. Marvin worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in the city of St. Louis Park. Marvin and Dorothy spent a few years of their retirement living in Bonita Beach, Florida, where Marvin started a hobby of making knick-knacks out of collected sea shells. Marvin enjoyed fishing, listening to Twins baseball games and chatting with folks. His New Year’s resolution this year was to hug more. Graveside service for both Marvin and Dorothy Ann will be at 10:15 a.m., Friday, May 3, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, assembly area No. 4. Cremation Society of Minnesota Edina Chapel (952-924-4100) is in charge of arrangements.
