Shamrock Golden Word of the Week

Maple Lake Elementary’s “Shamrock Golden Word of the Week,” program focuses on ‘Golden Words’ or words like exquisite, generous, gloomy, etc. which boost students’ expressive vocabulary. There is one golden word of the week each week for the rest of the school year. Each classroom will be coming up with unique sentences using the golden word of the week and posting them by the pot of gold display in the school hallway. Below are the best sentences from each grade level:  
Shamrock Golden Word of the Week: Prevail 
Kindergarten: “We will prevail keeping the earth clean,” from Andrew Neumann’s class
1st grade: “The Minnesota Twins will prevail in the World Series!” from Kelly Seibert’s class  
2nd grade: “I will prevail in math class!” by Ryley Hagen from Nicole Christiansen’s class 
3rd grade: “The boys want the Twins to prevail,” from Linda Weber’s class 
4th grade: “We all hope to prevail in something during our lifetime,”  from Katie Sieberer’s class  
5th grade: “George Washington prevailed over the Red Coats,” from  Tony Smith’s class 
6th grade: “As 6th graders, we will prevail on our MCA tests,” from Jennifer DesMarais-Holland’s class.
