Victor Lyle Erickson, Maple Lake

Victor Lyle Erickson, age 77, of Maple Lake passed away on Tuesday August 23, 2011, at New River Medical Center of Monticello following a courageous battle with cancer.  
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 27, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church, 1001 East 7th Street, Monticello, with Fr. Tony VanderLoop officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery of Monticello. Visitation will be Friday evening, August 26, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 East Broadway, Monticello. Further visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday.  
Victor was born on October 24, 1933, in Parkers Prairie, MN, to John A. and Elsie B. (Ackerman) Erickson. He grew up in Parkers Prairie and graduated from high school there in 1952. He then served in the U.S Army. In 1958 he was united in marriage to Leona Major. The couple lived in Coon Rapids and Victor worked for Hagen Office Equipment and Remington-Rand. In 1977 the couple moved to the family homestead in Maple Lake, where he enjoyed hobby farming. Leona passed away in 1992. Shortly after his retirement, Victor married Violet Yager in 1996.  In retirement, he continued to enjoy farming, hunting and traveling.
Victor is survived by his wife, Violet; daughters, Susan (Brad) Hanson of Grand Rapids, MN, Rebecca (Michael) Koecheler of Brainerd, MN, Bonita (Luke) Scadden of Monticello; 8 grandchildren, Bethany, Sarah, Laura, Emily, Benjamin, Matthew, Noah and Sadie; 5 great-grandchildren;  siblings, Evelyn Peterson, Marvin Erickson, Esther Peterson, Alice Decker, and Glenn Erickson. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie; wife, Leona (Major) Erickson in 1992; and brothers John, Raymond, Elton, Ernest and Arnold.      
Funeral arrangements are with the Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel of Monticello.
