John E. Raiche, age 80, of Maple Lake, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013, at his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. John Meyer officiating. Interment services were at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday meeting in Assembly Area #4 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There was a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday.
John E. Raiche was born July 2, 1933, in Maple Lake to Zeb and Clara (Courchane) Raiche. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He married Marlene Ann Figge on Sept. 15, 1956, in Annandale and she preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2011. John worked for Goodin Company in Minneapolis and then for 17 years in security at the Monticello Nuclear Power Plant. He was a member of St. Timothy’s Catholic Church and Maple Lake American Legion Post 131. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
He is survived by his son, Ken, and his wife, Janeice, of Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren: Erin (Andy) Bender, Jennifer (Landy) Dove and Anthony Raiche; three great-grandchildren: Katarina Dove, Ethan Dove and Dominic Bender; and two sisters: Catherine Morrisay, of Monticello, and Betty (Cliff) McAlpine, of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; brothers, Duane and Roland; and sisters, Annabelle Schaufler and Mary Helen Raiche.
The pallbearers were Erin Bender, Jennifer Dove, Anthony Raiche, Dennis Raiche, Charles Schaufler and Michael McAlpine. The music for the service was provided by Sarah Goelz and Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox.
