For seasoned citizens seeking assistance with daily living activities while wishing also to maintain their independence, Park Terrace Assisted Living and Memory Care offers comfortable senior apartments in a warm and welcoming environment, fastidiously overseen by a competent staff of caring professionals.

Opened on Montrose Boulevard near Buffalo Lake in 2007, Park Terrace has been delivering personalized physical, emotional and spiritual care to every resident on its scenic lakeside campus for seven years now, and Director Jill Pingel has been there from the start.

The comforting, homey feeling that visitors notice when walking in, she says, is just one example of Park Terrace’s steadfast mission to provide good service. Assuming responsibility for nursing, dietary planning, activities and office duties, a staff of more than 50 keeps a round-the-clock schedule, 365 days a year.

“Our first priority is to be responsive to our residents and their families,”Pingel said. “We are here to take good care of your family member – that’s number one.”

An array of amenities

Park Terrace is located at 613 Montrose Blvd. in Buffalo, and operates under the umbrella of Elim Care, a faith-based organization based in Eden Prairie. Assisted living facilities feature 32 modern apartments, and packaged service plans designed to meet a variety of needs and lifestyle choices protect and promote each individual’s quality of life. Cable television is available, and Wi-Fi is soon to be installed. At Park Terrace, residents maintain their independence while enjoying the company of others through a community environment that encompasses social activities, spiritual support and more. And for residents requiring extra assistance with personal care, additional packages can be purchased for help with medication set-up, bathing, dressing and other daily protocols.

All residents of Park Terrace enjoy restaurant-style dining with menus and a daily feature of the day. Light housekeeping, basic utilities and on-site maintenance and parking are also included. Musical entertainment is provided weekly on Friday afternoons. Bible studies and chapel services contribute to a strong sense of community, as does an activity calendar that includes such diverse pastimes as Bingo, exercise, table games, monthly birthday parties, a pontoon ride, a visit to an apple orchard, participation in Let’s Go Fishing, eating outings, shopping trips, and, new this summer, a woodworking class offered in cooperation with the Buffalo Community Center.

Specialized care

For individuals seeking an enhanced assisted living option due to memory issues, Park Terrace offers 14 safe, secure memory care apartments, and its compassionate staff members are specially trained to care for those with memory loss. Working in cooperation with residents and their families, caregivers strive to maximize residents’ comfort, security and well-being with individualized care plans that combine social and spiritual care with conventional health care services, meeting each individual’s capabilities and providing them with meaningful social interactions.

Park Terrace’s adult day care program is an excellent alternative to long-term care for senior adults in need of some assistance, providing community and companionship in a safe, nurturing environment. Activities and outings in this program offer social opportunities and stimulation for older adults, as well as respite for caregivers.

Registered and licensed public nurses are on call at all times, and residents have access to a mobile clinic, lab service, podiatry and portable x-ray onsite. Residents can also obtain physical and occupational therapy through available nearby outside sources.

“We really want this to be their home,” Pingel said of the Park Terrace community. “We’re here to provide service as needs change, adapting to what their needs are.”
