5. M/S Thomas/Liljequist Approve the Agenda for the special school board meeting held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014   Motion carries 5-0
6. M/S Trager/Elsenpeter Approve the Consent Agenda for the special school board meeting held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014.  Motion Carries 5-0
7. Open Forum:  None
8. Unfinished Business
A. Molly Thompson reported a clean opinion on the audited financial statements, with the unassigned general fund balance decreasing by $223,580 from FY13 to FY14.  M/S Trager/Liljequist Motion to accept the annual financial audit as prepared by Schlenner, Wenner & Co.  Motion carries 6-0 
B. The October 31 enrollment was at 879.6, up from the 871 used to create the 2014-15 budget.
C. Progress report on the evaluations of probationary licensed staff showed that each probationary staff member has received at least one of their three evaluations for the year.
D.  Michalicek gave a summary of the superintendent’s evaluation from the October 14 closed meeting.  Redemske received a satisfactory review, with satisfactory being the highest mark given.
9.  New Business 
A. M/S Trager/Paumen Motion to adopt a resolution canvassing returns of votes and a resolution authorizing issuance of certificate of election of Independent School District #881’s November 4, 2014 general election. Roll call vote carried 6-0
B. M/S Elsenpeter/Thomas Motion to approve a tentative seniority list.  Motion Carries 6-0
C. M/S Elsenpeter/Thomas Motion to accept a $6,390 donation from the Maple Lake Lions and a $500 donation from the Maple Lake American Legion.  Motion Carries 6-0
10. Representative Reports
A. District Leadership Team: Redemske reported the high school has a long-term sub in the building who, like all first-year teachers, was given a mentor.  The Q Comp building goals have been submitted to MDE, and we are waiting for their approval.  The District Leadership Team has a parent representative, and the buildings will be evaluating Chromebooks and ASUS tablets for a potential 1 to 1 technology initiative. 
   B. Meeker and Wright Special Education Cooperative:  Thomas reported the budget was discussed at the last meeting and Westside has filled its teaching position.  Redemske reported that MDE is reviewing the options for leasing space for staff and students in the MAWSECO programs for next year.
C. Minnesota High School League:  Paumen reported the next meeting is December 4, 2014.
D. Safe Schools Committee:  Harlan reported sex trafficking and the heroin symposium were the topics of the meeting.
E. Schools for Equity in Education:  Redemske reported the SEE platform for FY15, and that professional development workshops will take place after SEE meetings.
H. Technology Committee: Paumen reported that the meeting is set for November 24, 2014.
I. Wright Technical Center:  Michalicek reported that the audit was accepted at the last meeting.  WTC will be hiring a special education teacher and they are in the process of adding an additional class for next year: CEO – Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities for 20 to 24 students.
J. Elementary School:  Harlan reported that she received an email from the mom of the student who created the Buddy Bench concept, the Science Express Mobile Laboratory was a success with grades PS-6 and parents attending, Clubs Choice kicked off today, Vets’ Day was on Tuesday with students lining the auditorium with 48 handmade American Flags.  The Legion Auxiliary will take the flags to the VA hospital. Twenty of our 5th and 6th graders and 45 high school students attended the We Day celebration.  Our students were included because of their yearlong commitment to the Backpack Buddies Program.  
K. High School:  Hansen reported on the success of our fall sports teams with cross county, volleyball and football representing Maple Lake at the State Tournaments.  Irish Pride celebrations took place this past month, the play “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” is scheduled for Thursday Friday and Saturday November 14 – 16 starting at 7:01.  American Education week is next week and Student Council will be handing out cookies to students.
11. Committee Reports
A. Activities Committee:  The Activities Committee met and the Marching Band will be sending a representative to the December board meeting to discuss programming.
B. Licensed and Support Staff Committee:  The teaching staff would like to become more involved by having the same reps attend meetings each month and also provide input on programming and budgeting.  An Insurance Committee has been set up to manage the ACA and HITA insurance requirements.  The next meeting will be at 3:15 on November 19, 2014.
