Becker is runner-up Miss Teen of America

Easter weekend was a bittersweet homecoming for Ashley Becker after a whirlwind of activity that started with a runner-up finish in the Miss Teen of America pageant and ended in a trip to Spain.
Becker, who for the last year- and-a-half has held the title of Miss Teen of Minnesota, went before the judges once again in a three-day competition, Friday, March 13, through Sunday, March 15, in pursuit of the coveted Miss Teen of America title.
She fell just short of that lofty goal, finishing second to Miss Teen of Iowa, Cornelia Hays, who walked away with the top honor.
Three days later, Becker was jetting across the Atlantic on her way to Spain as a group leader with the Maple Lake High School Spanish class.
She returned to the states on Thursday, April 2, a little sad, but also proud of her accomplishments.
“It’s really bittersweet,” she said. “Initially I think it was more disappointing. This was something that I had put my heart and soul into, so the initial announcement was difficult; however, as time passes and I process everything further I am extremely proud to be able to say that I took second place in a national competition.”
