If excitement is an indicator of success, Science Rocks! (SR!) 2016 was a smash hit. On Tuesday, January 5, more than 700 fifth and sixth grade students from 30 area schools had the opportunity to experience hands-on science and nature activities on a college campus.
The event is held on the campus of St. Cloud State University in three buildings: Wick Science Building, Brown Hall and the new ISELF building. This year marks the tenth anniversary of Science Rocks!
Students were given the chance to choose which of these fascinating topics they wanted to learn about. Each student was assigned to four 60-minute sessions throughout the day, including one of two auditorium sessions. There were 26 possible sessions to attend. These sessions were all taught by professionals in their fields such as physics, entomologist (insects), or naturalists.
