The Irish girls cross country team arrived ready to race at Holdingford, Thursday, Sept. 8, running to a second-place finish in a “tough field” of nine accomplished high school teams, coach Ben Youngs said.
Gus Demarais continued to lead the team, finishing third with a time of 20:41.60 after leading for much of the race. The two athletes who passed her were Kate O’Brien of Sauk Centre and Kristine Kalthoff of Albany, two “established runners,” Youngs said.
“Her (Demarais’) time puts her as the third-fastest 5k runner for the school behind Sommer Carlson and Halle Geyen,” he added.
