Football: Irish rest hopes on teamwork, staying healthy

The Irish came into this year’s football season with low numbers and nursing the loss of its starting quarterback, top running back and top receiver from last year’s squad to graduation, but so far the team hasn’t let it bring them down.
The Irish are currently 2-0 after early season wins over Kimball and Pierz. The Pierz Pioneers happen to be the defending state champs, are ranked number one in class 3A, and haven’t been beaten by an Irish squad in 20-plus years.
Coach Tim Knudsen cited lack of depth as one of the team’s greatest weaknesses, but its strength lies in its line size, speed and never-say-quit attitude.
