Maple Lake runners do well at two meets

The Irish girls cross country team pulled off a big win, Friday, Sept. 16, at Delano, placing all seven girls in the top 13 to beat runner-up Delano 16-46.
Gus DeMarais led with her third-place overall finish in 22:33.46. Mary Miller was close behind her in fourth with a time of 22:53.94. Both are eighth graders.
Halle Geyen came in sixth with a time of 23:15.30 and Grace Heying was eighth in 23:40.23.
The Irish continued to cross the finish line as a group with Margaret Graham coming in 10th in a time of 23:59.28 and Ava Mergen finishing 11th in 24:04.11. Bionca Peterson rounded it off with a solid 13th-place finish in 24:36.82.
Pack running has been the Irish’s strategy since the beginning of the season and they have been working the past few meets to perfect it. It all seemed to come together on Friday.
