JAMES LIONEL HOLT, Monticello (formerly of Maple Lake)

James Lionel Holt, was born October 7, 1930, in Brooten Village, MN. He and his five siblings grew up with their parents, Elmer and Opal Holt, in rural Belgrade/Brooten on a small farm. Jim married Jeanette Mae Johnson in 1950 at Nordland Lutheran Church in Paynesville. They started out living in a small home in Fridley. In 1953, they moved to Coon Rapids.
Jim was employed as a machinist and later as a tool and dye maker at Cornelius Co. in Anoka, MN. They raised their five girls, Sharon, Diane, Karen, Noreen and Paula, while they lived in Coon Rapids. They were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church and were very active in the church.
Jim and Jeanette built a lake home in Maple Lake, MN, and moved there with Paula in October of 1974. Jim retired from Cornelius in 1993 and drove school bus part-time after retirement. Jim and Jeanette moved to Monticello in 2003. Jeanette preceded him in death on September 21, 2007. Jim continued to live in their Monticello town home surrounded by friends and neighbors.
After a fight with cancer and a mild stroke, Jim died on October 1st, 2016, in the CentraCare Care facility in Monticello from complications of his cancer. Jim and Jeanette were long-time members of Holy Cross Lutheran in Maple Lake.
