Melrose hands Maple Lake Irish a 21-14 loss

Melrose muscled past Maple Lake to hand the Irish its second loss in two weeks, Friday, Sept. 30, at Melrose with a 21-14 victory.
The Irish were up 14-7 after touchdowns by Alex Toedter and Ben Triplett in the Mid State Sub-Division I match-up. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter that injuries and penalties cost them the lead and the game.
Toedter ran 28 yards on nine carries for the Irish and scored one touchdown in the first quarter. Kicker Andy Mavencamp got the extra point.
