Maple Lake gymnastics team had a good night, Friday, Jan. 20, against the Little Falls Flyers.
Led by Gracie Elsenpeter, who won every event, the Irish cruised to a 126.375 to 105.4 victory.
“This was a good meet for the girls,” Irish coach Kaitlyn Helmbrecht said. “Susie Rieber had a great bar routine. She kept the routine flowing and stuck her dismount.”
Senior Hannah Praska “performed well on both beam and floor,” Helmbrecht said, and it happened on Senior Night.
Elsenpeter had a “great floor routine. We still have more to add so we are excited to see where the rest of the season takes her,” Helmbrecht said.
Elsenpeter won with her floor routine, earning a 9.225 from judges. Irish athletes also claimed the second- through fourth-place spots in that event. Brooke Mergen was second with an 8.225; Olivia LaTour was third with a 7.95; and Shauni Johnson was fourth with a 7.875.
Elsenpeter won the beam with an 8.175; Danica Westrich was second with a score of 7.875; Katelyn Fuller was third with a 7.675; LaTour was fourth with a 7.45; and Rieber was fifth with a 7.05.
