MARELLA F. KEMMER, of Lakeville

Marella F. Kemmer, age 96, of Lakeville, Minnesota, and formerly of Moorhead, died Friday, January 6, 2017.
She was born on April 22, 1920, in Chatham Township, Wright County, the daughter of Francis “Shorty” and Stella Lemieux DeMarais. “Shorty” DeMarais worked for many years on the Soo Line Railroad and his family made their home during those years in North Dakota.
Marella graduated from North Dakota’s Enderlin High School in 1938.
On November 10, 1943, Marella F. DeMarais and Elroy C. Kemmer were joined in holy marriage in Moorhead. God blessed their marriage with three sons.
Marella was formerly employed as a beautician for 30 years in Fargo, North Dakota.
She was fond of the farm, being a beautician, dogs, reading and dominos. She enjoyed life, especially her family and friends.
Survived by son, Roger and daughter-in-law, Janine Kemmer, son, Bob Kemmer, and a daughter-in-law, Jean Kemmer; grandchildren: Dean (Karen) Kemmer, Michelle Kemmer, David (Dawn) Kemmer, Jeff (Sarah) Kemmer, Christie (Jayson) Stiefel, Bradley Kemmer and Kristina Lund (Andrew Masters); great-grandchildren: Alan Kemmer, Taylor Stiefel, Stella Kemmer and Johan Lund; many dear friends, especially Dee Bergquist.
Preceded in death by her husband: Elroy C. Kemmer on January 15, 1992; son, Richard; her parents; and by a brother, Roger DeMarais.
Funeral services for Marella Kemmer will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 20165 Heath Avenue, Lakeville, on Thursday, January 12, at 11:00 a.m.
Interment at Moorhead Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church in Lakeville one hour prior to funeral services.
Casketbearers will be Dean Kemmer, David Kemmer, Jeff Kemmer, Bradley Kemmer, Jayson Stiefel and Christi Stiefel.
Memorials are preferred to Animal Humane Society or to Trinity Terrace & Care Center.
