Science Rocks! and Science Fest! inspires 5th and 6th graders

For the first year, the science and nature conference for fifth and sixth graders was held on two days to accommodate over 1,000 students. On January 3, over 700 students attended Science Rocks! at St. Cloud State University (SCSU). On January 12, over 300 students Science Fest! at St. John’s University. The students come from 33 school districts in Central MN. Students had the opportunity to choose which of these fascinating topics they wanted to learn. While there is no guarantee they will get all the sessions they select, we try to accommodate at least one or two.
Each student was assigned to four 60-minute sessions throughout the day. There were 22 possible sessions to attend at each conference. These sessions were all taught by professionals in their fields such as physics, entomologist (insects), or naturalists.
