David R. Mooney, age 94, of Maple Lake died, Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at the Park View Care Center in Buffalo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
David Ralph Mooney was born October 23, 1922 in Maple Lake Township, Minnesota to Ralph and Mary (Jindrich) Mooney. David grew up in Maple Lake and Minneapolis. He graduated with the Class of 1940 from Maple Lake High School; then went on to attend the University of Minnesota. On June 22, 1943 David was united in marriage to Luverne Catherine Hance at St. Timothy Catholic Church. David and Luverne raised their family in Maple Lake. David spent 26 years at Maple Lake Farmer’s Creamery as a butter maker and manager; then 14 years for the State of Minnesota as a Dairy Inspector. David was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, as well as the Maple Lake Fire Department and Catholic Order of Foresters. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, traveling, and reading. His faith and his family were of the utmost importance to him.
David is survived by his wife of 73 years, Luverne of Maple Lake; children, Jeanne Kramer, Judy (Rick) Paumen, Betty Dircks all of Maple Lake, Bill (Joni) Mooney of Little Falls, and John (Vicky) Mooney of Neenah, WI; grandchildren, Joe Kramer, Patty Hoverstein, David Kramer, Karen Lessard, Jim Paumen, Shelly Dodge, Tammy Paumen, Joe Paumen, Michael Dircks, Kim Palme, Pat Dircks, Peter Mooney, Joy Mooney, Jed Mooney, Nate Mooney, Anne McElroy, Christine McElroy, Nich McElroy, Justin Mooney, Tara Domer, Leah Zuiches; 36 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Al Mooney of Del Rey Oaks, CA, Don Mooney and Tom (Kathleen) Mooney both of Maple Lake; and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karen McElroy, grandchildren Ronald Kramer and Colleen Dircks, sons-in-law, Bob Kramer, Don Dircks, and Greg McElroy; sister Mary Ann Fieldseth; sisters-in-law, Pastoria Mooney, Lorraine Schmdt, and Cleone Mooney, and brothers-in-law, Roland Schmidt and Elvin Fieldseth.
Jim Paumen, Michael Dircks, Peter Mooney, Justin Mooney, David Kramer, and Jeremy Kramer will serve as pallbearers. Sarah Goelz, Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox and Joni Mooney will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
