A big heart and a big load of hay goes a long way

Rueben Streich of Maple Lake knows what it is like to be down on his luck and in need of a little help, so when he saw on T.V. the devastating effects wild fires were having on Kansas ranchers, he decided it was his turn to lend a hand.
On Tuesday, April 4, with the help of friends and family, the retired dairy farmer sent 465 bales of hay on its way to Ashton, KS, one of the communities struggling with the worst of the fires.
With all the grazing land in ashes, Rueben figures the hay will feed 200 to 300 head of surviving cattle for about a week.
