The Irish softball team opened the Section 5AA tournament last week with double-digit shut-outs over Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted and Eden Valley-Watkins.
On Tuesday, May 30, Maple Lake was to meet East Subsection No. 2 seed Rockford in Rockford for the chance to play in the championship game and a shot at the state tournament. The final game will be held in Rockford on Thursday, June 1, starting at 4:30 p.m.
After a first-round bye, Maple Lake kicked off the tournament on Tuesday, May 23, with the home-field advantage over the Lakers.
Linsey Rachel’s double in the first inning off a wild pitch set the tone for the game as the Irish cruised to a 10-0 victory.
