The Maple Lake Lakers repeated their record from last week, losing their first game of the week then rattling off three wins in a row. The Lakers are now in fifth place in the North Star League, but are only a half-game behind Howard Lake and Dassel-Cokato while Hutchinson has managed a perfect 12-0 to lead the league.

The Lakers hosted the Litchfield Blues for the first time in North Star League play Wednesday, June 21, and Grant Mergen was on the mound to greet them. The Blues got on the board in the second and the Lakers answered right back when Matt Bergstrom got a lead-off single and was brought in to even the game. The Maple Lake bats went quiet until the eighth when Brian Redemske doubled and Donnie Mavencamp scored him. Mavencamp would also come in thanks to Derek Rachel, but the rally ended at two. Mergen had a solid seven innings but five team hits could not provide enough run support.
