A travelling, we will go

A traveling, we will go…” was the theme for Storytime with Marie this week as the children reviewed all the ways they “traveled” this summer. Eleven children and six adults listened to stories that showed a variety of ways to travel and then they took turns leading the group in traveling by car, truck, train, boat, bike, plane and helicopter. Several children shared their traveling toys that they brought from home. Then everyone made a poster by drawing a road, a railroad track, a lake, a bike trail and clouds in the sky. Each child was given a baggie of traveling vehicles and had to put them on the correct trail. They are holding their finished posters in the picture. Each one is a job well done! These children enjoyed the last Storytime of the summer – back row: Avery Hackenmueller, Madeline Lang, Eve Lang, Lauren Peterson, Gunnar Melgaard. Front row: Kate Peterson, Dominic Lang, Caleb Park, Reed Hackenmueller, Tyler Reinke. Not pictured – Eli Carriveau. After the picture, each child received Hot Wheels fruit snacks to go along with the theme.
Marie would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to all those who made this summer library program possible: Maple Lake Library for their willingness to sponsor Storytime, now finishing its 8th year, The Maple Lake Legion Club for their generous donation for summer children’s programs, Bernatello’s Foods, Maple Lake Lumber, Maple Lake Cenex Co-op, BP Amoco, and Maple Lake Messenger for providing prizes for the weekly Read and Redeem and putting in our weekly library events in the paper, the Recovery Center for letting us use the McHugh Building each week, all the adults who brought their children each week and helped with our projects, and especially all the children who came with such joy and participated so well in all we did. It was a great summer! (Photo submitted)
