Gladeline “Glady” Alberta (Lemke) Goerke, age 89, of Maple Lake, passed away on Sunday, July 9th, 2017, at The Oasis of Lake Ridge Care Center in Buffalo.
She was born on September 3, 1927, in Annandale, the daughter of Albert and Evangeline (Gerard) Lemke.
Glady was baptized on November 27, 1927. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 18, 1941, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township, Wright County. Her confirmation memory verse was Isaiah 54:10: “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that hath mercy on thee.”
She belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township, Wright County. Glady was a former long-time waitress and was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to the casino, bingo, cribbage, playing cards with her brothers and sister, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
She married James “Jim” Lemieux, this marriage was blessed with four children. Glady later was married to Larry Stoner and to Art Goerke.
Survived by a son: Les Lemieux (Sharon Donovan), of Maple Lake; a daughter: Kaye (Jack) Wittern, of Annandale; stepsons: Scott Stoner, Todd Goerke; stepdaughters: Jane Ziedler, Joyce Uecker; eight grandchildren: Jesse Lemieux, Shawn (Cassandra) Lemieux, Amber Lemieux, Ryan Lemieux, Heather Hagel, Jason Hagel and Jamie Hagel, Jeremyah Wittern; three great-grandchildren; a sister: Al Jean Fuller, of Maple Lake; brothers: William “Bill” Lemke, of Annandale, and John (Fay) Lemke, of South Haven; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including special friend, Howard Glubke.
Preceded in death by infant sons, Michael and Lester Lemieux; husbands, Larry Stoner and Arthur Goerke; daughter-in-law, Barb Lemieux; brother-in-law, Russ Fuller’ and sister-in-law, Carole Lemke; stepdaughter, Jackie Johnson.
A Memorial Service for Gladeline “Glady” (Lemke) Goerke will be held on Monday, July 24th, at 2 p.m., Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township, Wright County.
Pastor Rob Jarvis will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery, rural Maple Lake.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 23rd, from 4-8 p.m. at The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo. Further visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 1-2 p.m., at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
