The St. Timothy Youth Group helped welcome bike riders from across the country participating in the Habitat 500 Bike Ride Tuesday, July 11, as the athletes rode through Maple Lake.
The ride, which starts and ends in Victoria, took bikers through Maple Lake on the third day of their journey where they stopped at St. Timothy Catholic School for snacks and a break from the road. This was the first year the ride has stopped in Maple Lake. Organizers approached the parish with the request to use the school parking lot. Habitat provided all of the food and beverages, but St. Timothy’s youth group volunteers help set the rest station up. They also cheered on bikers as they came into the school parking lot.
For a quarter of a century, the Habitat 500 Bike Ride has sent cyclists across Minnesota, biking 500 miles to raise funds and awareness to help Habitat for Humanity build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter.
