Maple Lake boy battles E. Coli strain that took his sister’s life

Five-year-old Kade Maresh, of Maple Lake, is showing signs of improvement after a life-threatening battle with a rare form of E. Coli that took his younger sister’s life.
Kallan Maresh, 3, died in her parent’s arms Saturday, July 1, at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital due to complications known as HUS (Heolyic Uremic Syndrome) which attacks the kidneys and other organs. The infection attacked the little girl’s kidneys, nervous system and heart.
