Maple Lake football team crushes Eden Valley-Watkins at home

The Maple Lake football team cruised to a 28-0 win over conference foe Eden Valley-Watkins, Friday, Sept. 8, at home.
The Irish struck first early in the first quarter with a seven-yard touchdown run by senior Alex Toedter. Senior Andy Mavencamp converted the extra point to make it 7-0.
The Irish threatened again with about a minute to go in the first half when sophomore Brock Goelz completed an interception at the 21st yard line.
Maple Lake junior Zach Cargill scored the next touchdown of the night in the second quarter with a 17-yard run to the end zone. Mavencamp came through with the the extra point again to make the score 14-0.
The Irish leapt ahead 21-0 in the third quarter with a three-yard touchdown run by Alex Toedter and kick by Mavencamp. Junior Ben Goelz put the final points on the board in the fourth with Mavencamp completing the extra point.
The Irish, now 1-1, will host Pierz on Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m.
