Wright County provides Hope for Texas

It’s not like the people of Wright County to sit by while others go without.
Within days of Hurricane Harvey wreaking havoc upon Texas communities, a semi-truck full of supplies set off from Buffalo to Port Aransas, TX, to help victims of flooding.
The effort was called Wright County Hope for Texas and was headed up by Maple Lake couple, Kim and Steve Northenscold.
Kim was visiting an online garage sale site when she happened upon a comment from someone who asked “Why are we selling these items? We should be giving them to the flood victims in Texas.”
Inspired, Kim contacted Dennis Schaefer of D&E Transport in Clearwater who found a driver from Houston, Phillip Parker, who is also a former U.S. Marine and police officer. Parker suggested they send the supplies to Port Aransas, a small community near Corpus Christi that hadn’t drawn the national support Houston had.
Flyers were distributed, messages posted on-line and businesses notified. Within days, the effort had come together.
