Fishing Derby set for February 3

Organizers of the 43rd annual Maple Lake Fishing Derby are excited with our most recent cold snap. 18-20 inches of good solid ice are reported on Maple Lake’s largest bay where the tournament is held. Fishing contest hours have been expanded this year by one additional hour. Anglers of all ages are invited to fish from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. on February 3rd. Tickets are still one of the lowest in the state at $5 each. Each fish entered must have an accompanying ticket. New this year is a best decorated fish house award. Fish houses should be registered at the Progressive Insurance tent by noon on February 3rd. There will also be a bloody mary bar on the ice beginning at 10 a.m. Information on all of the festivities is available online at www.maplelakefishingderby.com or at the H&H Sportshop in Maple Lake or Little Jim’s Bait in annandale.
