Monticello Moose Drop two Games

The Monticello boys hockey team had a rough week on the road last week. On Tuesday, Jan. 30, the Moose fell to Litchfield-Dassel- Cokato 3-1 and on Thursday, Feb. 1, the Moose fell to St. Michael-Albertville 7-2.

Litchfield put the first points on the board in the first period then held the Moose scoreless until the second. Maple Lake’s Devon Lyons scored Monticello’s lone goal fifteen minutes into the second period with an assist by Jake Friede.

Litchfield scored again in the second period and the third for the 3-1 win. Moose goalie Tyler Klatt saved 21 of 24 shots on goal. St. Michael-Albertville dominated the first period against the Moose, Thursday, Feb. 1, at Moose Sherritt Ice Arena, scoring five of their seven goals of the game.

Jack Saunders and Troy Dahlheimer put the Moose on the board after a scoreless second period. Saunders scored at 2:34 into the third and Dahlheimer scored at 10:28. ST-M-A put two more goals past Moose goalie in the meantime for the 7-2 win. Moose goalie Collin Soderholm saved 39 of 46 shots on goal.

On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Moose will take on Princeton at home at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Feb. 10, Monticello will travel to Chisago Lakes for a 2 p.m. game. On Tuesday, Feb. 13, the Moose will play Sartell at Bernicks Pepsi Arena at 7:15 p.m.
