Coordinated by the Maple Lake American Legion and VFW, the Memorial Day activities begin with a parade from the downtown area to the city park. The program takes place at the Veteran’s Memorial with activities that include featured speakers, a roll call of deceased veterans, music by the Maple Lake Irish Marching Band, and a 21-Gun Salute.
Set for the third Saturday in August, the Gear-Head Get Together is in the second year of an event that takes the place of the Days of Old summer celebration. The event in downtown Maple Lake features a show and swap meet for cars, trucks, motorcycles, scooters, lawn mowers, chainsaws, commercial vehicles, motors and other mechanical devices. There is also a free concert, with a beer garden and other concessions available. For swap meet information call 612-756-2378. In the evening, the music and food continues at Madigan’s Pub and Grill.
