June H. Slager, age 97, of Argyle, Wis., formerly of Maple Lake, MN died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, Wis. Graveside services were July 12, at 1 p.m. in Oakland Memory Lanes, Dolton, Ill. The Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle served the family. June would want you to be happy, notice the beauty of nature and enjoy the simple pleasures of life. June was born June 28, 1916, in Maple Lake, the daughter of Bert and Nora (Bergstrom) Meintsma. She graduated from Maple Lake High School in 1934. She was united in marriage to Adrian Slager on Aug. 1, 1936, in Chicago. She lived in Chicago until moving to Argyle in 1979. Survivors are her three children: Adrian (Peggy) Jr., of Frankfort, Ill,; Dennis, of Richland, Ore.; and Judith (Edward) Marshall Jr., of Wheaton, IL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Adrian, in 1995; son, Gerald on Oct. 22, 2007; two brothers, George and Stanley Meintsma; sister, Lilith Wilson; two infant grandsons, Matthew Slager and Andrew Marshall. June was a past member of Lansing Gospel Church in Lansing, Ill. She enjoyed knitting, needlework, reading and completing word searches. As a University of Wisconsin Men’s Badger hockey season ticket holder, she enjoyed attending and watching the games. She also loved keeping informed of and participating in the events of her family. As a resident of Argyle, she enjoyed spending her time with friends, drives in the country, and community events.
