Lois Jean (Mayne) Ward, age 87, lifelong resident of Maple Lake/Buffalo, Minnesota, died on Thursday, September 22, 2016, at her family home.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 26, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake, with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Chatham Township, rural Maple Lake. Visitation was from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday and from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Monday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish prayers were held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Lois Jean Ward was born on June 23, 1929, to James and Grace (Planer) Mayne in Maple Lake. As a lifelong resident, Lois grew up and attended school in Maple Lake, graduating with the Class of 1947. She was united in marriage to Donald J. Ward on August 26, 1950, at St. Timothy’s Catholic Church. For over 30 years, Lois worked for Wright County Human Services as part of the office administrative staff, while also raising her 7 children. Lois enjoyed her life in the Maple Lake/Buffalo area. In her spare time Lois enjoyed traveling, knitting, crocheting and visiting with friends. Above all, she cherished the time she was able to spend with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lois is survived by children, Bruce (Rhonda) Ward of Buffalo, Gail (Gene) Pindzia of Oceanside, CA, Brad (Kirsty) Ward of Minnetonka, Jay (Dawn) Ward of Ramsey, Janny (Mike) Sturgeleski of Loretto and Russ Ward of Buffalo; 15 grandchildren: Ann Ward-Soto, Tammy Ward, Christine Gould, Jonathan Gould, Dani Ward, Katie Ward Christian, Natalie Ward, Adam Ward, Mitch Ward, Megan Ward, Jack Lengyel, Tom Lengyel, Jolene Lengyel, Kelsey Ward Bernard, and Becky Day; 9 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Ward of Orange Beach, FL; sisters-in-law, Helen Mooney of Maple Lake and Delores Fairbanks of North Branch; and many nieces, nephews and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Grace Mayne; husband, Donald Ward; son, David Ward; and siblings, Donald Mayne, John Mayne, Robert Mayne, Paul Mooney, Clayton Mooney and Ruth Donnelly.
Raymond and Pat Mooney, Jim, Joe and Jake Mayne served as pallbearers. Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox and Shannon Paumen provided music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
