Wright County Public Health announces upgraded Wellness on Wheels vehicle

Wright County Public Health announces a new development in the Wellness on Wheels (WOW) Program. For over 20 years, the WOW Van has provided preventative health services to Wright County communities. Beginning in 1995 with a renovated ambulance, the program grew and adapted to fit needs around the community, resulting in a 35-foot RV being purchased and fitted for use starting in 2000. Sixteen years later, the demand for services continues to grow, and the current RV is being replaced with a more compact, versatile vehicle, allowing the WOW Program to expand and include new services that better fulfill the needs of the community.
With the new van, Wright County Public Health will continue with the quadrant approach; visiting four sites per month from 2-6pm. Every month services will be provided inside the following facilities: the first Thursday at Monticello High School, second Tuesday at the Delano Senior Center, third Thursday at the Annandale City Hall, and fourth Tuesday at the Cokato Library. The van will also be present at multiple community outreach events throughout the year and will be used for the weekly 60+ and Healthy Clinics that occur the first four Tuesdays of the month at eight different community locations across the county. The 2017 WOW Program and 60+ and Healthy schedules are available at www.co.wright.mn.us, on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WrightCtyPublicHealth), or by calling 763-682-7516 (toll-free 1-800-362-3667 ext. 7516).
WOW Van dates for the rest of December have been cancelled due to maintenance issues with the current RV. Services will begin again in January with the aforementioned changes.
Registered Nurses provide the WOW Program services. These services include immunizations; screening and individual consultations for blood pressure, cholesterol, hemoglobin A1C, blood glucose, pregnancy, hemoglobin, and tuberculosis; home radon and well testing kits; dental health and fluoride application; and general health and community resource information. Fees & eligibility vary based on services.
