MAML hockey has 2-1 week

The Monticello-Annandale-Maple Lake boys hockey team went 2-1 at a three-day tournament at the Municipal Athletic Complex in St. Cloud last week.
After giving up a 6-2 loss to Sartell-St. Stephen on Tuesday, Dec. 27, the Moose went on to defeat Sauk Rapids-Rice 5-1 on Wednesday, Dec. 28, and River Lakes 4-0 on Thursday, Dec. 29.
Sartell-St. Stephen jumped to a 2-0 lead after the first period, then slid three more goals past Moose goal tender Tyler Klatt in the second period before MAML answered back with the first of its two goals of the evening. Casey Chiodo scored a little more than eight minutes into the second period with assists by Tanner Mros and Honza Stibingr.
Sartell-St. Stephen scored another goal in the third to expand its lead to 6-1. The Moose’s Nick Zwack scored one final goal for the team with help from Troy Dahlheimer to finish with the 6-2 loss.
Collin Soderholm had six saves for the Moose and two goals against. Klatt made 16 saves and let four shots get by him, Tuesday.
Maple Lake junior Devon Lyons had two goals in MAML’s win over the Storm the next day. The Moose struck first, Wednesday, off a Lyons’ goal with assists by Jack Saunders and Jaden Jarmuzek almost 14 minutes into the first period. Casey Chiodo scored on a power play next with assists by Stibingr and Ben Ward, and Lyons ended the first period scoring with an even-strength goal assisted by Jarmuzek and Chiodo to give the Moose a 3-0 lead.
