Board gets $7.2 million good news on jail bond refunding

When the Wright County Board of Commissioners approved the construction of a new courts facility earlier this year, the thought was thrown out that the county could potentially save a considerable amount of money on the 2007 bonds that were used to build the Wright County Law Enforcement Center.
At the April 25 meeting of the county board, the commissioners found out just how wise a move that was – giving them 7.2 million reasons to be happy they explored the option of refinancing the old bonds while going through the process of preparing to bond for the new courts facility.
The bonds were opened by the county’s bond counsel Ehlers Inc. Monday, April 24, and Bruce Kimmel of Ehlers had a hard time containing his enthusiasm for the good news he was bringing the county board.
