No injuries in car vs. train

No one was hurt, Wednesday, May 3, when a train collided with a Wright County squad car parked too close to the tracks at the intersection of Highway 55 and County Road 7, just after 5 p.m. According to Captain Sean Deringer, the deputy spotted a juvenile male who had been reported as a runaway, walking along the tracks. He parked his squad car with the bumper just over the tracks and went to retrieve the runaway. When he realized a train was approaching he tried to move the car, but did not have time. The squad car was totaled. The juvenile was later recov ered and returned safely. The Maple Lake Fire Department responded to the incident. (photos by Bob Zimmerman)
