The Maple Lake High School baseball team won its second consecutive Central Minnesota Conference title, Tuesday, May 23, at home when it defeated Eden Valley-Watkins 7-0.
The Irish finished with a 13-1 CMC record and go into playoffs this week boasting an 18-2 overall record and as the No. 1 seed.
The Irish were scheduled to kick off the tournament against Watertown-Mayer on Tuesday, May 30, after a first-round bye. The Royals, seeded No. 9, ousted No. 8 seed Litchfield last week for the opportunity. The tournament will be held at Irish Stadium.
The Irish took an early lead against the Eagles in the team’s final regular season game of the year when Brock Goelz hit a single to drive in a run.
